wrapup and things

The Hallowe'en Art Show last weekend was a success!
It worked out a lot better than last year and a show
in 2009 is even more likely. Several artists made sales
and everyone had a good time. Esco Prescott made a
brief appearance on stage to tell some stories and later
Amos Oaks showed up to tell one with the accompaniment
of his saw. It was also Knoxville's introduction to Australian
artist Martin Harris. We're glad to have him in our "karrass."

in other news "Where Have All the Phone Booths Gone?"
might be performed out of state next month. more on that
as it develops. for the upcoming year PoMoNoBo hopes to
dwell in the area of theatre and performance a bit more.

Halloween Show Wrapup

I'm a paranoid pessimist so I'm not very good at evaluating my own projects--especially when I feel underwhelmed. The Halloween show occurred this past Friday. I was still working on putting up the show when people were coming in. I made a lot of mistakes and wrong decisions but finally surrendered to an incomplete show. The traffic flow wasn't as dense as past shows at the MBT House and it was very noticeable. It was noted by a friend that if it was as crowded as those shows the venue would have been very uncomfortable. The "Duplex" is very small (three rooms) and was filled with artwork with no air conditioning. This helped me think more on the optimistic side and just to learn from the lessons and make the next event impeccable.

Other things on the Plus Side:
  • I had (and continue to have) a lot of support from all the people involved
  • Josh Godin participated (his first public exhibition)
  • Kari Hancock made a lot of sales and the event has led to her opening
    her own Etsy Store
  • PoMoNoBo now has an event under its belt
  • Sarah and Jenna now have an art project to develop together
  • I remembered what Ghosts & Goblins was like on old school Nintendo
  • people created new artwork just for this show

there's some pictures of the show at kari's flickr

late september update

the Cradle people came over last night to make tombstones for the halloween art show.
it was pretty fun. now i'm complete october-mode. next week we're going to hang the
some of the art show and set up the cemetery along with other things. the art show
is going to be awesome and i'm passed being nervous and now i'm just really excited
about it.

there's supposed to be an Antarctica gathering (performance art and performance poetry)
at Host on Oct 5 at 10pm. i plan on making it down there after the show is closed up.

after the art show is over TrashCanPunch will be working on some new songs for an
ASAP release on the internets. i don't think you'll be able to handle it all. it's going to be
very omg.

i think the boozehound gandy dance will be performing at the el deth halloween show
at the grotto oct 30th. hopefully this will include some folkloresque ghost stories and
much hobo-macabre imagery.

i can't bring myself to plan anything else for 2007. any project ideas i come up with are
being chalked up to the 2008 calendar [poetry show, filmmaking, photography, etc]
